Get your team together and prepare for fun

All of our leagues are coed, and FUN is what they’re all about – that’s why you voted us as one of the Best Sports Leagues in Toronto!

Our leagues run Weeknights and Sundays – you pick the day, and play at the same time and night each week! But be ready for a whole lot of play — in our leagues, you play 3 different matches, 2 games per match. That’s a whole lot of volleyball crammed into a 1hr & 45min session!

Team up with friends, colleagues, family – anyone you want! All you have to do is choose the level that fits your game. Don’t have a team? No problem! We have a forum for players looking for teammates, or try out our Sunday Night Individuals League, and make friends in the beach volleyball community!

Determining Your Calibre

Coed 6’s:
Getting started in the game? This is just the ticket! The rules are watered down, so you learn the basics of the game while keeping the rallies going. Two or more women must be on the court at all times.

Intermediate Mixed 4’s:
Want a little more room to operate? Intermediate is for those of you who have a good handle on the basic skills. One or more women on the court at all times.

Competitive Mixed 4’s:
Does your crew have some game? Most rallies are pass, set, and spike, and the pace is quicker here. One or more women on the court at all times.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Format

Indoor leagues run for 10 weeks, 9 weeks of round robin play including tiered play and 1 week of playoffs with a championship & consolation division.

Each match has 2 games. Teams play 3 matches a night during regular season.

Indoor Leagues

  • Each match lasts 25 minutes,
  • All games are RALLY POINT SCORING (each serve results in a point for either team),
  • 1st game is played to 20 points (must win by 2) with a cap of 22 points,
  • Teams switch sides, and 2nd game is played until time expires. If teams are tied at the whistle, serve 1 more ball, and winner of the rally wins the game,
  • Winner = 1 point per game (set),
  • Loser = 0 points,
  • If only 1 game was played, the winning team gets 2 points for the match,
  • Maximum 2 points per match.

Grace Period: Only in Round 1 of the evening.
If a team is incomplete at the whistle to start round 1 this team is given a 5 minute grace period from the whistle to field a complete team without penalty.
Reminder: in the regular season you may borrow subs from the teams on bye!
If the team in default cannot field a legal team within 5 minutes of the whistle the opponents can choose to play and count the 1st game or win game 1 by default.
Game 2 can commence immediately after a default decision on game 1 has been made, and the defaulting team has an additional 5 minutes to field a legal team for game 2. If after an additional 5 minutes has passed, the defaulting team cannot field a legal team, please let the coordinator know immediately.

If a team doesn’t show up within the first 2 minutes of Rounds 2, 3, or 4, please notify the coordinator immediately.

Outdoor Leagues

  • Each match lasts 30 minutes.
  • All games are RALLY POINT SCORING (each serve results in a point for either team).
  • 1st game is played to 21 points (must win by 2) with a cap of 23 points.
  • Teams switch sides, and 2nd game is played until time expires. If teams are tied at the whistle, serve 1 more ball, and winner of the rally wins the game.
  • Winner = 1 point
  • Loser = 0 points
  • If only 1 game was played, the winning team gets 2 points for the match.

Playoffs

  • Seeding is based on regular season results.
  • All teams qualify for playoffs.
  • Playoffs are played in Week 10 (the final week) of Outdoor leagues.

League Regulations

  1. Teams must be paid in full before playing on first night.
  2. Teams are given a 5-minute grace period from the 1st whistle before defaulting the match. If teams are late for the night they are not guaranteed to play all 3 matches.
  3. Teams must report scores of all games to league coordinator after each round.
  4. Games not recorded on night of play will be recorded as losses
  5. League Coordinator will notify all team captains a week in advance if games are rescheduled.
  6. If your team is unable to attend a night please notify coordinator asap! Phone: 416.785.6677 or by email
  7. Team rosters and waivers must be completed by all participants before playing.
  8. Teams may add players during season as long as they are added to team roster.
  9. To be eligible for playoffs, players must have played with the team at least three times during the regular season and appear on the team roster.
  10. Individuals may not play on 2 teams during the playoffs for the same division.

MIKASA Balls are to be used for game play if there is any disagreement.

This league is for fun and people participate for exercise, fun & competition but everyone has to go to work the next day! Please keep your game face on the court, and remember that all teams should play with decorum and maintain a high level of sportsmanship.

Court 7 (Indoor Only)
The team on side of the beam can play the ball off the beam, within their 3 hits. If the team on the opposing side hits the beam, the ball is out of play, and the team on side of the beam is awarded the point.

Example 1 – Team A (on side with the beam) hits a ball off the beam, play can be continued if Team A plays the ball up within their 3 hits.

Example 2 – Team B (opposite side of court to the beam) hits a ball to Team A that hits the beam – play is stopped and Team A is awarded the point.

Example 3 – Team A (on side with the beam) hits the beam on serve – they are allowed one extra serve. Team B cannot hit the beam on serve or play.
